It's a little strange that I receive a newsletter and a share your opinion email concerning bomb threats on the same day my daughter calls me from her high school saying, "please pick me up there's a gun threat." I can't explain the range of my feelings with that one phone call. I can't tell you what I was feeling when I arrived at the school and saw all of the police. I can tell you that right now as I'm typing this, I feel absolutely drained. Maybe I'll think about it later.
The local news reported on the incident this evening with the same information that I was given by my daughter (who was given the information by a teacher, who told her and the rest of the class that nothing was going to happen.) I'm certainly glad he was right but I don't think he should have told the students. It seems that the threats had been coming in everyday since last Friday. It's now Wednesday. I'd like to know when does a parent get notified of information of this importance.
I don't understand why some of these kids are so violent. Is it due to lack of attention? Is it because of too much attention? Is it boredom? Is it really because of the music (?), movies, and video games they play? I wonder if the parents are that unaware of how their kids act and what their kids are doing? Why? How can we stop this insanity?
Thanks, I didn't realize that I would end up venting when I started this post but I guess I needed to get this out of my system. God Bless!
