Hi, I'm new to the forum and just finished ...Teen Is Crazy. I loved the book and thought I'd share something that happened about a month ago.

My son (12) decided to color his hair - blue. I agreed and even helped him do it. We had to bleach it out first then put the blue on top. It turned purple. Before school the next morning I ran to Wal-Mart and got a more blue to put on top of it. It worked, and he went to school. He came home (not upset) and wanted to take it out. (This was perm. hair color) So we went and got hair color remover. While at the beauty supply store we got the hair color remover and he decided he wanted to try red. So we did.

The next morning he went to school with red hair. I'm a teacher and know the importance of teenager finding their identity. By the time he came home his hair faded to pink. He was removing the color when I got home from school. He asked me if I could fix it. So once more, I went to the store and got hair coloring. This time it was dark blonde. I put it on his head and he was thrilled!

He thanked me and said he thinks he likes his own color best. 48 hours later we had gone through 4 colors, he still had his hair (it hadn't fallen out) and we had shared some very private moments. Sometimes its best to let them go through with things as long as it won't hurt them. I really feel he learned to like himself for himself just a little more.
