My son is 15 and does not want to attend his school dances. Our friend's daughter wants him to ask her, but he really does not want to go to the dance at all. Should I urge him to go? He goes to an all boys school. He is a great kid, is in honors classes, is in extracurricular activities, and has never made less than an "A". I am concerned that he will one day regret missing his high school dances!

Dear Mom,
In the midst of this overly-sexualized teen culture there are lots of kids who choose (wisely, in my book) to take their time getting involved in the dating scene. I'd check in with junior and ask his take on this, just to be sure he's not afraid of doing something he wants to do. But if he just says that he's not interested, I'd probably just let it go.
By the way, there are probably a thousand moms reading this who wondering how you got so lucky.
Be well!
