Drug/Adolescent Therapist

Can you recommend a therapist or counselor in the Santa Monica/West Los Angles area? I checked your links but didn't get any results. We discovered that our son has been taking pills and feel that the situation might be more than a casual one and would like to find some help as soon as possible. Thank you.

Dear Parent,
Your best bet is to call local folks who deal with teens, such as school counselors, teachers, civic youth leaders, and so on to get names of helpers who specialize with adolescents. Also, put your pride aside and ask other parents who they recommend (without disclosing the nature of your kid's problem). You'll be amazed at how many "perfect-kid-families" have quietly visited helpers. At this point do not go to a rehab until an expert evaluates your child. Rehabs can sometimes make small issues worse by having a kid associate with much worse drug users.
