My son is a sweet, thoughtful 17 year old who acts alot younger than his years. Nothing wrong with being a late bloomer....
He has friends who are girls, but has never dated. Definitely on the shy side and defines himself and his friends as "nerds"...
So why would he choose as the object of his first crush to be one of the most popular cheerleaders in the school who he thinks has an older boyfriend? He was typing something on the computer last night that had a big deadline..... I thought, wow, he's finally doing his homework! It was a sonnet/valentine to her that had to be submitted to the school newspaper by the next day to be out for Valentines Day.
They share a class together, and other than saying hi, he says he overheard her saying to someone that either he was weird or a comment he made in class was weird.
This is like in Napoleon Dynamite when Pedro made a cake for Summer......
I'm glad he's finally finding interest in girls, but dread that she will chew him up and spit him out.....Just keeping my mouth shut and listening which is very hard for me to do....
I think I recall having a crush on the most popular boy in high school......he was so unobtainable that it was safe.....
Any thoughts ....
