One day I was talking to my son (12.5) and my daughter (10) and in the middle of the sentence my son started talking and making noises. I explained that it was rude. He said" Mom, I heard every word you said" and he repeated back exactly what I had said. I praised him for that, but said he needed to look and listen when people speak to him. Jokingly, I said "Mom's are like fire. With fire you stop drop and roll or there is danger. With Mom's you stop, look and listen or there is danger." Without missing a beat, he said "I've got a better one, Mom. Mom's are like roads, if you don't stop, look and listen before you cross one, you will get hit" His quick wit just really slays me at times. He can be so funny. (and, no, I don't hit my kids:)) His personality is changing, and even though we have the mood swings, there is so much joy in seeing the person he is becoming and sharing funny times like that.
