Thank you Dr. Bradley for your tremendous insight to the scarry places our kids minds go. Your book picked me by it's title. I have a 13.8 year old daughter. She is a great kid that has been altered since the school bell rang for the 1st day of 6th grade and she entered middle school.
Since then I have been trying to get my parental footing. I have fallen flat on my face a few times and wished that I had more education of this adolescence stage. I have been called for meetings that I thought they called the wrong number.
She is in 8th grade now and quite honestly I have gotten better at my responses to her crazed decision making. I have learned to not have such a quick response to the madness. I have learned that what might be the one thing that will "complete my life mom," one minute she will forget about and stop bugging if I bite my tongue and just listen. If she needs a response I do my best to say "well, we might be able to look into that."
My life is not blissful. It is however changed for the better. I have had to make significant changes in my own life to feel a little better about my kids life.
I look forward to the day other teen pa
