Dr. Bradley,

So my daughter is now 15 and a half, and generally on a very good path. She is an excellent student and definitely connected to home. Yet the experimentation phase of pot smoking is definitely there.

Due to my "snooping" I am aware of occasional plans with friends to smoke. I have confronted her and she totally denies it. What I can't figure it is how they hide the smell. My boyfriend and I came home early to find my daughter and 2 of her friends in the house..(we give her clear rules to have no friends in the house while we are not home) We both knew from all the questions she was asking us that she was planning to have people over., so we suprised them and came home earlier than expected) They were clearly stoned..and there were some telltale signs..(the garage door was opened...going outside..I think you get the picture), We played it cool..they were definitely freaking out...we sat down and talked to them...LOL). I let her know in front of her friends that she knows she is not supposed to have friends over when we are not home, and that we would talk about it tomorrow.

So here I am..I pretty much know what to do from your book, but cannot figure out how they hide the smell..there was just NO SMELL...what is that about? Any thoughts? and of course any words o wisdom would be helpful.

I wondered about how my daughter fooled me for so long also.

Here's some things I found on the Internet in less than 60 seconds:

[ATTN PARENTS: We edited this message to avoid providing kids who peruse this site with drug-concealing methodology. Yes, they can easily get it on the web but we were conflicted about posting it here. It's safe to say that these methods are numerous, sophisticated, and ever-evolving, so rigorously policing kids is not a much safer path than just assuming that they don't do drugs. The best bet is to stay as emotionally close as possible to your child's heart. Even that is no guarantee, but it's the best we can do.]

Hi

the 5 methods did not come up on the bulletin. I would love to see them, and will try to google it.

I believe the specifc info was removed by the moderator which is OK because there is certainly way too much of this stuff floating around.

My point is that if I, a non-drug user who is older than dirt, can find this much info with a quick Google search, a person who is highly motivated can find reams of it. So, sadly enough, you can't assume your kid isn't smoking pot because you can't smell it on them. I learned my lesson the hard way.
