Dr. Bradley,

Thanks for the vent several months ago. I got my husband to read some of your book which is a feat in itself. My daughter seems to have gotten back on track as of the end of summer.
She unfortunately did not thrive in the middle school she attended and with the combined pressure of the school, us trying to figure out what the problems were, and trying to fix the problem for her, we created our own pressure cooker. It wasn't easy, however once she understood that we did in fact love her (no matter how much she acted up), we are on her side (no matter what) , and that household rules were for everyone's benefit (not to be misunderstood as punishment), everything just kind of fell in place. Matter of fact, we haven't had to take her privileges away but one time in several months.

She started High School this year, joined marching band, and so far the grades are good. Matter of fact, she came home last week and said, "Mom, I "LOVE" High School! The teachers treat me with respect!" She's excited about life now and it's fun and sad at the same time watching her metamorphosis from "my baby" to this beautiful young woman.

Again, Thanks for your support!

Dear "Mom",
Thanks so much for your update. You may not realize how helpful that was for other parents who are going through a struggle phase which seems forever. Seeing your story reminds us that the sun does rise eventually if we can just stay calm, patient, and loving. When we keep our own eyes on the long-term picture for our kids, we usually calm them and us down quite a bit.
Thanks again, and well done!
Mike Bradley
