View Full Version : 14-year-old girl, how to handle?

Worried

I just found out that my daughter had a (her first) sexual encounter over the summer, at a party (that's the part that worries me the most). I found this out through my son, who was told by his girlfriend. She (the girlfriend) talked at length to my daughter about it, warning her against doing it again, it's a bad idea, etc. My daughter also got caught sneaking out a few times this summer as well. Should I confront her? This happened several months ago, so I'm not sure what to do. If I do say something to her, she's certain to figure out how I know and I don't want to cut off that line of communication. Thanks in advance, truly.

I would not confront her about this. It's in the past (and you are not 100% sure of the validity of this either). Instead, I would simply talk with her through every day conversations about having sex at a young age. Good luck.
