My daughter just turned 17. She is generally level headed, very articulate and extremely independent. Over the years she has made 'friends' on the internet (in a vampire chat room) and now these friends will be in town in just two weeks.
We've considered terminating our online service but there is the libary, internet cafes, and of course her friends all have PCs. So this is not a viable option.
My daughter wants to meet with these people. I am just sick about this.
We have discussed this matter in every way possible. The ultimate problem is my husband & I both work and I cannot quit our jobs just to babysit her and make sure she doesn't meet people. There is the possibility these people are OK but I don't want to risk it.
I am worried sick that this meeting will be devastating.
I have asked my daughter for their names, addresses, ages, screen names, etc. so I do have that info.
What can I do? Is there an agency that can screen these online people or see if they even exist?
Any information would be helpful.
