    growing up

My daughter and I used to be so close. She had no problem snuggling up to me in bed in the morning and giggling and being silly. Ever since she turned about 13, that kind of activity really tailed off, and now she doesn't hardly want to hug me. She kind of holds herself apart from me and the rest of the family, and just acts like home is the last place in the world thta she want s to be.

I know it's part of growing up, but I do miss my little girl.

Hopefully your daughter will do what my son did. When he went through puberty (at an early age - he is 12 1/2 now) he did the same thing. He was very uncomfortable with physical contact and quit hugging me totally. After he grew 3 1/2 inches and lost 1 pound in a year, (and gone through many sublte personality changes) he is back to my huggable boy - only he stands 2 inches taller than me! He first began to put his arm around me due to being thrilled with his growing taller than me. Now I get hugs every day. I hope once your daughter gets comfortable with her body changes she will become a hugger again too. Good luck! Susie
